When a utility customer was upgrading an auxiliary boiler system used to provide steam for plant start-up, we supported the project with the installation of new electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems. The project included instrumentation for the boiler, control room equipment, and life safety systems.

Project Scope

  • Install and connect 2000 feet of medium-voltage cable and to the boiler according to the manufacturer’s specifications

  • Install 3000 feet of new cable tray to route power and communication systems, including fabrication of cable tray supports

  • Install a medium voltage controller, a step-down transformer, a motor control center, dry-type transformers for lighting and receptacles, and panelboards

  • Supply and install select instrumentation for the boiler, including custom fabrication of galvanized instrumentation stands

  • Connect heat tracing equipment to the control room and coordinate insulation contractor

  • Install and connect communications, fire protection, grounding, and lightning protection systems

  • Participate in start-up and commissioning
